Can anybody supply me with info on removing front bumper, fenders, hood, etc. on '90 Camaro? Tried posting this question on maintenance and repairs...only got replies from a couple individuals who apparently know nothing about my question, and seem to think that 'Yahoo Answers' is a place for wannabe comediennes to practice being funny. What has happened to all of you who actually know something, and are willing to help someone out with legitimate answers and info? If there are any of you left on 'Yahoo Answers', I would graciously appreciate any info regarding my question. I have to remove the front clip off my wife's '90 Camaro RS. The hood, both fenders, and front bumper are damaged after our son hit somebody. To anyone willing to help me out with this and supply me with valid info, thanks and God bless you. car insurance. Kia . How to Remove a 230 Chevy CamshaftThe 230 cubic-inch engine was first produced by Chevrolet for the 1963 model-year. Unlike most other six-cylinder engines, the 230 featured all six cylinders arranged in a single line. As such, the engine is often referred to as a straight-six or in-line engine. Like its V-6 counterparts, however, the 230 still featured a single camshaft that actuated each of the engines valves. Removing the 230's camshaft is a straightforward task given that the carburetor and the intake manifold need not be removed as with most other engine designs. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Wrench Screwdriver Socket wrench Vibration damper puller tool Container Step by Step : 1 Remove the bolt at the bottom corner of the interior of the radiator with a wrench to drain the fluid. 2 Remove the upper and lower radiator hoses from the radiator. Each hose is secured to the radiator with a clamp. Loosen the clamps with a screwdriver and pull the hoses away. 3 Remove the radiator's retaining bolts with a wrench and lift the radiator out of the engine compartment. A single bolt is located at each corner of the interior of the radiator. 4 Remove the bolts that secure the valve cover to the top of the engine with a socket wrench and lift the valve cover off of the engine to reveal the rocker arms. 5 Remove the nut located in the center of each rocker arm with a socket wrench and lift the rocker arms off of their pushrods. 6 Slide the pushrods out of the cylinder head to free the valve lifters. 7 Pull the valve lifters out of the engine. 8 Remove the vibration damper from the tip of the crankshaft with a puller tool. Designs vary, but the tool either bolts to the front of the damper, or claws on the tool grasp onto the back of the damper. Tighten the bolt in the center of the tool to remove the damper. 9 Drain the engine oil into a container by removing the bolt on the bottom of the oil pan. Step by Step : 10 Remove the bolts that secure the oil pan to the bottom of the engine and lower the pan off of the engine. Step by Step : 11 Remove the bolts that secure the timing chain cover to the front of the engine and pull the cover off of the engine to expose the timing chain. Step by Step : 12 Remove the bolt that secures the upper timing chain sprocket to the tip of the camshaft with a wrench and pull the sprocket off of the camshaft. Step by Step : 13 Slide the camshaft out of the engine.
Kia . How to Remove a 2.2 Chevy LifterThe lifters in the Chevy 2.2L engine sit above the push rods. When the camshaft is rotating, a sequence of events occurs which includes pushing the rods up while the rocker arms are going down. As the lifters rise and fall, they are actually opening and closing valves during the combustion process. Like other moving parts in your engine, the lifters are subject to wear. It is not difficult to remove them but it does take a little time because of the other parts that must come off to gain access. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Socket set Wrench set Rags Torque wrench Marker Masking tape Screwdriver Scraper Valve cover gasket Wheel chocks Automobile jack Jack stand Step by Step : 1 Open the Chevy engine compartment and disconnect the negative battery cable using a wrench to loosen the terminal nut. Unsnap the cover from the air cleaner box and remove the air filter. Remove the retaining nuts with a wrench and remove the air cleaner from the engine. Disconnect the accelerator control using a wrench. Disconnect the cruise control with a wrench if it is installed on your Chevy. Remove the accelerator control bracket using a wrench. 2 Disconnect the PCV hose using a screwdriver to loosen the clamp. Remove the bolts from the valve cover using a socket and ratchet. Lift the valve cover away from the cylinder head. Remove and discard the valve cover gasket. Clean any remaining gasket material from the cylinder head using the scraper. Label each of the vacuum hoses with the marker and masking tape and then disconnect them. 3 Label and disconnect the electrical wires from the engine coolant temperature sensor, oxygen sensor, throttle position sensor and EVAP canister purge solenoid. Disconnect the cables from the accelerator bracket. Remove the accelerator and cruise controls. Remove the accelerator control bracket using a wrench to remove the bolt. Place the wheel chocks behind the rear wheels of the Chevy. Lift the car using the automobile jack. 4 Place a jack stand under the Chevy near the jacking point and raise it to the frame. Disconnect the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold using a wrench. Place the drain pan under the radiator. Open the drain valve with a wrench and drain the engine coolant into the drain pan. Remove the jack stand from under the Chevy. Lower the car to the ground. Remove the tension from the serpentine belt by turning the belt tensioner clockwise with a wrench. 5 Lift the belt from the pulleys. Gently ease the belt tensioner back into place. Remove the mounting bolts from the alternator with a socket and ratchet. Remove the alternator from the engine. Remove the mounting bolts from the power steering pump using a socket and ratchet but do not disconnect the hoses. Position the pump out of your way. Remove the power steering pump bracket using a socket and ratchet. 6 Place the automobile jack under the engine with a block of wood on it. Raise the jack enough to support the engine. Remove the upper motor mount from the engine using a socket and ratchet. Remove the bracket from the drive belt tensioner using a socket and ratchet. Label the proper location of each spark plug wire using a marker and masking tape. Grasp the boot of each spark plug wire and gently pull it away from each spark plug. Do not pull by the wire. 7 Disconnect the purge line from the EVAP canister under the manifold. Remove the upper hose from the coolant outlet using a screwdriver to loosen the hose clamp. Disconnect the heater hose form the coolant outlet using a screwdriver to loosen the hose clamp. Remove the nut that attaches the transmission fill tube to the engine using a wrench. Disconnect the fuel lines using a wrench to loosen the fittings. Label the rocker arms with the marker and masking tape. 8 Remove the bolts from the rocker arms using a socket and ratchet. Lift the push rods from the cylinder head and label each one with the marker and masking tape noting the proper location of each. Remove the cylinder head bolts with a socket and ratchet. You must note the holes that need short bolts and the ones that need the long bolts. When you reassemble the engine, you will have to use new cylinder head bolts because they stretch when you install them. 9 Remove the cylinder head from the engine block. If it is difficult to remove, tap it several times with the rubber mallet. Do not try to pry the head from the engine block. Remove the bolts securing the lifter anti-rotation brackets using a socket and ratchet. Remove the hydraulic roller lifters from the bores. Tips & Warnings When installing new lifters you must lubricate them with fresh engine oil. When you remove the cylinder head for any reason, you must use a new cylinder head gasket when you reassemble it.
